Police charge man with murder of King Cobra gang member Luke Riddell

A 24-year-old man has been charged with the murder of King Cobra gang member Luke Riddell. 

The man, who has interim name suppression, appeared via video link in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday accused of shooting dead Mr Riddell, also know as Luke Sears. 

He handed himself into police after a four-day manhunt that included raiding a Hornby property on Tuesday, Court News reports.

He went police after recieving advice from his pastor and family. 

He entered no plea and has been remanded in custody until November 2, where he is expected to appear in the High Court.

The man is the second person to be arrested in relation to Mr Riddell's death. A 35-year-old man appeared in court on Wednesday charged with a raft of gun-related charges.

The man has been remanded in custody until October 25. 

The body of Mr Riddell, a King Cobra member, was found at Charing Cross, outside of Christchurch at 3:30pm on Saturday.

Police are continuing to investigate.
