The bodies of two paua divers who went missing off the southern Otago coast have been recovered.
The Balclutha men, aged 23 and 51, entered the water in Purakaunui Bay on Saturday.
At 7:30pm police were notified they hadn't returned and an extensive search and rescue operation was launched.
"While formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed that the bodies are those of the two Balclutha men reported overdue from their diving trip on Saturday night," police say.
Police extended their thoughts to the families of the men. They also thanked all of those who were involved in the search and rescue operation.
