What appears to be staff members of a Warehouse store in Hamilton have been filmed kicking an alleged shoplifter in a carpark.

Footage posted to social media shows a trio of men dressed in red t-shirts surrounding an alleged shoplifter in a carpark, before kicking the victim to the ground.

The video has been viewed over 38,000 times since it was uploaded on Friday, and has been shared 460 times.

The person filming the video can be heard saying the staff members should be fired.

"These guys are beating him up," the onlooker says.

"He's not even allowed to kick him like that."

A spokesperson for The Warehouse Group told Newshub the situation occurred after an "alleged shoplifter incident" at a store in Hillcrest, a suburb in Hamilton.

"We called the police and are cooperating with their enquiries," the spokesperson said.

"We're also fully investigating the incident ourselves, with urgency."

Some social media users were outraged by the video, with one person calling the incident "appalling."

Another called staff at The Warehouse "stalkers and thugs".

Police have been contacted for comment.
