A large scrub fire has flared up in central Hawke's Bay.
Fifteen crews are at the scene on the main road between Waipukurau and Porangahau.
Two more appliances are enroute, with helicopters on standby.
There are no road closures, and a fire spokesperson says the blaze appears under control.
