There has been an explosion at a laundromat in the Christchurch suburb of Linwood.
Two people have been injured, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson confirmed to Newshub.
FENZ received a call about the explosion at about 6:40am, the spokesperson said.
"On arrival, there was some sort of explosion and two people were injured," the spokesperson said, adding that the extent of the injuries is current unknown.
"We've got a fire investigator on the scene at the moment to see what caused the explosion. He's on the scene now."
He said the fire was brought under control "quickly".
