The husband of a missing pregnant Wellington woman says police have searched their home.

Sonam Shelar, 26, has been missing since November 17 and concerns for her safety are growing.

She was last seen at around 8.30am at the home she shares with her husband in Khandallah.

Her husband Sagar Shelar told Stuff that police have conducted a thorough search of their home on Cashmere Avenue.

"I know that I'm their first suspect, but I know that I haven't done anything wrong."

The young woman disappeared from her home two days after an ultrasound came back inconclusive.

Mrs Shelar was five months pregnant and Mr Shelar told NZME she was very upset after the results came back.

"She had always dreamed for a baby boy but... after the ultrasound they were not sure if it was a girl or a boy.

"As soon as we got in the car she was crying and so upset because she wanted a boy".

Police are urging residents in the surrounding neighbourhood to check their sheds, back gardens or anywhere someone may seek shelter.

Mrs Shelar is described as being of slender build and approximately 165cm. She was last seen at around 8.30am wearing a brown jacket with fur on the hood and black, orange and white trainers.

Police are requesting that anyone with CCTV cameras showing the road or street around Cashmere Avenue, Onslow Road, Box Hill, Burma Road or Agra Crescent to contact them on on (04) 381 2000 or via email to opzeplin@police.govt.nz
