A 22-year-old man has appeared in Porirua District Court on Tuesday over the death of a three-month-old baby girl.
Police launched a homicide inquiry following the death of the baby girl on November 13.
Following a post-mortem and scene examination, Detective Senior Sergeant Kevan Verry says evidence indicates the baby died of "non-accidental injuries".
The man appeared on one charge of male assaults female and assault on a child. He was earlier charged with threatening behavior towards his partner, in September.
No plea was entered.
The man was granted interim name suppression and will reappear in court on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
