Police investigating two deaths in Auckland

Two men have died in Auckland overnight, both being investigated by the police.

Detectives from Counties Manukau Police were called to Zelda Ave in the Auckland suburb of Otara, after reports of a firearm being discharged at 10pm Tuesday night.

When police arrived at the scene they found an injured man on the footpath who later died of his injuries. He is yet to be identified.

The area has been closed to all traffic and is restricted to residents only. Police have asked people to avoid the area if possible.

Counties Manukau Police are also investigating a man's death in Manurewa in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police were called to an address at 4:52am this morning and discovered the man in a critical condition. CPR was administered but he died of his injuries.

One person is assisting police with their enquiries and nobody else is being sought in relation to the death.

A scene investigation is underway.
