Four motorcycle deaths in three separate incidents

Four people have been killed in three separate motorcycle crashes.

Just after 4pm emergency services were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Lower Buller Gorge Road on the West Coast.

The road is closed while crews work at the scene and diversions are in place at Inangahua Junction and at State Highway 67.

Emergency services also attended the scene of an incident on Henderson Valley Road, in West Auckland, where a motorcycle went into a ditch.

The crash occurred around 3.17pm on Saturday, police said.

Hours earlier two people died and another was critically injured after a motorcycle crash in Southland.

The incident took place near the intersection of Fairfax Isla Bank Rd and Riverton Otautau Rd at 12:45pm.

Three motorcycles and three riders were in the crash, no others vehicles were involved. Police said the road will be closed near the scene for some time.

The Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
