Weather: Even more rain on the way for New Zealand

More rain is on its way to New Zealand, continuing the country's dreary and wet end to November.

That's according to forecaster Weather Watch, which is warning of another bout of downpours.

November has been marred by wet weather across the country, and parts of Auckland saw flash-flooding after a short downpour on Sunday.

But it's not on the way out any time soon as another large low pressure system makes its way to New Zealand and is expected to cause rain over the next three days.

"Some of the rain is hit and miss - and even within regions, some may miss out on the heavy downpours while others miss out on the large dry areas," Weather Watch said in a statement.

Wellington, Christchurch and Westport are forecasted to have the least rain, while Auckland, Northland and Whakatane are in for a soaking.

Looking forward, NIWA's long-term forecast says summer will be more settled, with warmer than average sea temperatures.

Near-normal summer rainfall is likely for most regions, however the north of the North Island has about equal chances for below normal or near-normal rainfall. The west of the South Island has about equal chances for above normal or near-normal rainfall.
