Wellington cyclist wearing DIY cardboard box raincoat goes viral

A video posted to Facebook showing a cyclist beating the wet weather in Wellington earlier this week has gone viral.

The video shows a person wearing a large cardboard box, complete with cut out eyeholes and arm holes, cycling down Marion Street in the capital.

The box covers the cyclist completely  leaving residents of Wellington trying to guess his identity.

Boxman is the new Batman.

One poster has gone as far as asking him on a date:

"Dear Bike guy in the box. You got in the box, by thinking outside of the box . . . Is it a form of transport, or a home on wheels? I am curious as to what's inside your box. Your mind entices me. Such great Kiwi ingenuity.

I'm new to Wellington; we should hang and make a box trailer for you to tow me in or something. Who are you? Where can I find you? Who knows who you are and can help me?"

The woman follows up in her comments clarifying "PS: If you're like 12 years old or something then sorry to your parents and please don't contact me".

Boxman got over 4000 reactions on Facebook and, if he chooses to reveal his identity, a potential date.
