Christmas parade in Pleasant Point promises political incorrectness

At the annual Pleasant Point Christmas Parade, no hurt feelings are allowed.

The South Island town's annual parade is a chance for locals to look back at the year's most topical issues, and no float is deemed too controversial - in fact, it promises to be offensive.

"It is politically incorrect, so if you think you may be offended by the content, perhaps you shouldn't come in the first place," said one local.

"If they can find something to take the Mickey out of - they'll do it," said another.

With everything from a "sexy santa", to Harvey Ram-stein, to a truck with marijuana plants on board playing Bob Marley music, the whole town turns out for the event.

Not even the weather managed to keep this lot from voicing their opinions.

"It's very official. This is the [Pleasant Point] and this is the first time it's bloody rained.  It never rains."

The parade offered a reindeer that apparently identifies as a narwhal.

While it may seem a bit ridiculous, it's the season to be silly after all.
