A man has died after falling into a pit he was digging at a site in Papakura on Saturday.
Fire crews and police were called to a construction site on Settlement Rd in Papakura at around 1pm.
The man had to be dug out with shovels and tools, RNZ reported.
When emergency services arrived he in a critical condition and rushed to hospital, where he later died.
