Dame Kiri Te Kanawa receives top honour from Prince Charles

Dame Kiri Te Kanawa has become a Member of the Order of the Companions after being honoured at Buckingham Palace for her services to music. 

Prince Charles honoured the Kiwi Opera singer in investitures at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

Clarence House, the official Instagram account of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall made the announcement. 

Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua also received an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to sport. 

And Paul Zubier was decorated with the George medal which he was awarded for his acts of bravery. British man Mr Zubier was stabbed while defending victims of a knife attack in Finland that left two women dead.
