Four men plead not guilty after drugging and sexual assault probe

Four men have denied any wrongdoing after a police probe into alleged sexual assault and drugging at an inner-city bar in Christchurch.

The men - aged 25, 33, 34 and 36 - will keep their identities secret, having been granted continued name suppression.

They all entered not guilty pleas when they appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday.

The 25-year-old was charged with sexual violation and stupefying, while the 36-year-old was charged with supplying the class B drug ecstasy, stupefying and sexually violating a woman.

The 34-year-old man was charged with two counts of sexually violating the same woman, and the 33-year-old was charged with two counts of sexual violation and stupefying.

The latter was also charged with making an intimate visual recording and possessing an objectionable publication.

The four are expected to reappear in court in the new year.
