Identity of man charged with murder of Shayne Heappey revealed

One of the men charged with the murder of Christchurch man Shayne Heappey can now be named. 

Matthew Winara Webber, 29, appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday.

He entered no plea to the murder charge of Mr Heappey, who was dropped-off at of Christchurch Hospital and later died from his injuries on December 8.

Webber has been remanded in custody until a High Court hearing in February, Court News reports. 

Another man, who has interim name suppression, has also been charged with murder and appeared in the Dunedin District Court this week. He has been remanded in custody for a High Court hearing in February.

A 50-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will reappear in court in January.

Police have also charged a 26-year-old woman with being party to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and accessory after the fact of murder.
