Kiwi drowns in Australia

A New Zealander is dead after falling into a rock pool and drowning in the Australian state of Victoria.

The 27-year-old man fell into the pool at Zumsteins in the Grampians National Park just after 5pm (local time) on Wednesday.

A witness got into the water and tried to rescue the man, but could not reach him.

Local police recovered his body around 1am (local time) on Thursday morning. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
