As it happened: Vigils for Grace Millane held across New Zealand

These live updates have finished.

Grace Millane is being honoured tonight in a number of candlelight vigils being held across New Zealand.

The death of the 22-year-old British backpacker in Auckland has shocked New Zealand and the world. Her body was found on Sunday in the Waitakere Ranges, after she went missing over a week ago. A 26-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

White Ribbon will host Wednesday's vigil from 6-7pm in Auckland's St Patricks Square on Wednesday.

Four-hundred candles were lit on Queenstown's lakefront in Grace's memory on Tuesday night. She was just shy of her birthday when she was killed, so candles were lit by Joshua Lewis - a friend of Grace's brother, who knew her for 15 years.

Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Wellington, New Plymouth, Christchurch, Blenheim and Dunedin will now host the next vigils for Grace, at various locations on Wednesday night.

Photo tributes to Grace have been posted on social media under the hashtag #herlightourlove.

Rest in peace, Grace Millane.
