A man is in a stable condition after a shooting on Waimate St in Otara.
Police say they received reports of a shooting in the Auckland suburb at around 10:35am on Sunday morning.
The man suffered a serious injury to his stomach and was taken to Middlemore Hospital.
The offender is thought to be known to the victim and police are trying to locate them.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area as police continue to make enquiries into the incident.
