Police investigating the disappearance of missing Auckland teenager Mia Cooper say there has been "some contact" but they are still trying to verify that it is her.
Mia's mother Tracey Stewart earlier on Tuesday posted to Facebook saying "we are in the process of trying to get Mia home and surrounding her with the love and support she needs".
Police say they are still treating it as a missing person's report. A spokesperson told Newshub they believe she is with associates and "we just want to talk with Mia and make sure she's okay".
In her Facebook post, Ms Stewart said Mia was "alright" but later clarified she is in fact still missing.
"We are forever grateful for the love support, calls visits and texts [sic]."
There have been concerns for the 15-year-old's welfare since they received a missing person's report about Mia on Saturday morning.
Her mother said Mia had been "battling with depression and anxiety for the past year and things have been tough for her".
