Paraki Edwards accused of killing mother in Waikato remanded in custody

The man accused of killing a mother on Christmas Eve in Waikato has been remanded in custody.

Paraki Edwards did not seek name suppression when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to a rural property in Matamata on Monday, where a baby was also critically injured.

The infant was airlifted to Waikato Hospital and remains there.

The 40-year-old, who is charged with murder, will reappear in the Hamilton High Court in February.
