Two people killed in Raglan Harbour plane crash

Two people have died after a light plane crashed in Raglan.

Police, fire and ambulances are all at the scene near East St, which is next to Raglan Harbour.

The crash occurred at about 3:20pm on Monday afternoon.

The light aircraft was a popular model, Van’s Aircraft RV-4.

The two people killed were the only occupants of the aircraft. No one on the ground was injured.

It's understood the plane crashed into the shallow waters of the harbour at low tide, and that emergency services were able to wade to the wreckage to retrieve the two bodies.

The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified of the crash.
