Two murder charges laid over Christchurch Hospital drop-off death

Two men have been charged with the murder of Shayne Heappey, who was dropped-off at of Christchurch Hospital and later died from his injuries on December 8. 

A 31-year-old man appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Tuesday morning charged with murder. 

Police have also charged 29-year-old man with Mr Heappey's murder in Christchurch on Tuesday. He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday. 

A 50-year-man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will reappear in court in January. 

Additional charges are likely to laid as police continue their investigation. 

A forensic scene investigation at a Somerfield address will be completed on Tuesday.

"This has been a fast-moving enquiry with an investigation team that's worked tirelessly to locate those responsible for the death of Mr Heappey," Detective Inspector Corrie Parnell says. 

"Police would like to thank the community for their assistance and reassure them that this was an isolated incident."
