Weather: Auckland Santa Parade given all clear for round two

Auckland's Santa Parade is looking likely to be going ahead on Sunday after better weather was forecast for the big day.

The parade was supposed to take place on Sunday November 25, but it was pushed back to December 2 after heavy rain was forecast.

Newshub understands some participants were told on the day there was a risk of flooding.

Sunday December 2's forecast is looking a lot better, and Farmers Santa Parade Trust general manager Pam Glaser told Newshub that forecaster Weather Watch had assured her the weather would be much better.

She said attendees should be prepared for every eventuality, but Sunday is looking like a good day for a parade.

Weather Watch is forecasting a fairly dry Sunday with some showers, one may be heavy. MetService has forecast rain for the morning, but a mostly clear afternoon.

The parade will begin on Federal St at 1pm, before making its way down Mayoral Dr to Queen St. Once it reaches the end of Queen St it will turn left on to Customs St and end at the corner of Customs St and Fort St.

It is expected to end around 2:30pm.
