A magnitude 4.4 earthquake has hit near Milford Sound.
It was 5km deep and struck at around 9:10am about 25km northeast of the fiord.
Two people have reported feeling "extreme" level shakes, one person reported feeling "strong" shakes, and seven others reported "light" or "weak" shakes.
The quake was reportedly felt in Queenstown and Wanaka, and people as far up the country as Wellington and the Hawke's Bay have also reported feeling tremors.
There have been no reports of injury or damage.
