Relatives of a man charged following the death of an American woman in Christchurch have been caught on camera attacking a Newshub camera operator.
The scuffle happened outside the Christchurch District Court on Friday where Joseph McGirr appeared on five charges linked to the death of Lauren Biddle, a US citizen and champion polo player.
At one point, a man believed to be McGirr's father, pushed the Newshub camera operator onto the road.
He can be heard saying, "Pass the camera!"
Ms Biddle, 22, was found unresponsive at a Sumner property on October 22.
McGirr is charged with supplying a Class B controlled drug, impeding rescue, perverting the course of justice and cultivating cannabis.
The 37-year-old civil engineer was arrested early on Friday and pleaded not guilty in court.
He is on bail pending his next court appearance.
