Police are addressing media at 1pm after a crash on Sunday night in Christchurch claimed three lives.
A police pursuit began but was quickly abandoned in Christchurch's CBD, but the car continued to speed along Blenheim Road.
It hit spikes, set up by police, before ploughing into a tree and catching fire, killing the three occupants.
