Man punched unconscious while eating chips in Queenstown

A man has been arrested for punching another man in the face while he was eating chips in Queenstown.

The 28-year-old was knocked unconscious for a short time during the attack on Searle Lane at around 4am on Saturday. 

Sergeant Kate Pirovano says the attack was unprovoked and CCTV footage showed the man was eating chips at the time.  

The victim was taken to hospital following the attack.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is remanded bail. He is expected to appear in the Queenstown District Court on February 11.
