Two men are due to appear in court on Thursday in relation to the death of a 22-year-old on Matakana Island on New Year's Day.
Freedom Taikato died in a suspected homicide on the Bay of Plenty island. The cause of death has not been released, but the post-mortem has been completed.
A 23-year-old and a 59-year-old have been separately charged with assault. They will appear in Tauranga District Court.
An investigation into Mr Taikato's death is ongoing.

Snr Sgt Craig Rawlinson said they're particularly looking to speak to those who were at a temporary campground on Matakana Point Rd over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Only around 250 people live on Matakana Island, which is just north of Tauranga.
