A person is in a critical condition after being trapped in a crashed campervan north of Auckland.

The crash between the campervan and a car happened at the intersection of Sandspit and Sharp roads in Warkworth this afternoon.

Police say four others also have moderate injuries.

Access to and from Snells Beach has been cut off, while a diversion is in place at the intersection of Sandspit and Matakana roads.

Two rescue helicopters are on their way and the Serious Crash Unit has been called.

It follows a bus colliding with a car in the Auckland suburb of Meadowbank on Saturday morning, where one person was killed.
