Four people have been transported to hospital following a serious crash at the intersection of Wairakei Drive and Huka Falls Road in Taupo.
Two people have received serious injuries, and two people have moderate injuries.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 5.02pm.
The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene
Wairakei Drive is closed and diversions are in place.
Police have asked motorists to avoid the area where possible.
