The driver of a vehicle seen speeding down State Highway 1 in Auckland has been arrested following a firearms incident.
Police responded to shots allegedly being fired into the air in Auckland's Northcote at around 3:12pm on Thursday, but no injuries were reported.
A vehicle "involved in the incident" then fled the Northcote area, eventually travelling south on SH1 towards south Auckland where the car was snapped speeding by a police helicopter.
After heading west on SH20 before exiting Roscommon Rd, police said the driver was taken into custody in Weymouth, near the intersection of Weymouth Rd and Roscommon Rd.
Police said enquiries are ongoing and they are "not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident".
