One woman came behind the counter and launched a violent attack on the worker, punching him multiple times, while another grabbed handfuls of cigarette cartons.

The incident, captured on CCTV video, caused outraged in the community, which labelled it "disgusting".

Police say the two alleged offenders will be appearing in the Youth Court on Thursday on aggravated robbery charges.

"We know this incident caused considerable concern in the Tuakau community," says Counties Manukau Police Detective Sergeant Nathan Reid.

"We want to thank local residents for their assistance in providing information to help identify those allegedly responsible.

"Police and the public do not tolerate this type of behaviour and we want to reassure the community that we take these incidents extremely seriously."
