Blackcaps dealt surprise insult by Super Bowl commentator

New Zealand's Blackcaps would've been stoked to hear they got a mention in one of the most widely watched sporting events in the world.

But unfortunately for them, an unlikely cricket reference during the broadcast of the 2019 Super Bowl was largely negative.

While remarking on the incredibly low-scoring clash between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams, one commentator compared the lack of attacking intent to our national cricket team.

"We've seen about as much offence in this Super Bowl as the New Zealand Blackcaps have shown in their recent test cricket matches lately," the commentator said.

While he was most likely referring to India's 4-1 dismantling of the Blackcaps in their most recent series, he hit a snag on the game format.

While it's true our One Day International (ODI) side has taken a hammering recently, our test side - which the commentator referred to - has been in imperious form, winning their last four series.
