Two crashes have closed a section of State Highway 1 and State Highway 2 near Pokeno.
The crashes both occurred on the same stretch of road, the first between the State Highway 2 off-ramp and Helenslee Road and the second on the southbound off-ramp to Pokeno.
NZTA advises road users to follow the detour via Mercer.
They say emergency services are on-site and they are unsure yet when the area will be reopened.
