Police say they have seized "large quantities of drugs" and weapons after a raid on a property in rural Waikato.

Officers searched the Te Poi property, south of Matamata, on Friday. Det Snr Sgt Steve Ambler said they found "more than a kilo of dried cannabis plant material, methamphetamine and cannabis oil", as well as small amounts of LSD, ecstasy and other Class A drugs and controlled medicines.

Cannabis was also found growing indoors and out.

In addition to the drugs police found nine rifles, including a semi-automatic weapon - which requires an E-class licence - and two shotguns.

A 34-year-old man, who does not have a firearms licence, was arrested and charged with drug and firearm offences. He will appear in court on Monday.

"Again, we would like to thank the community for noticing suspicious activity," says Snr Sgt Ambler.

"I am also proud of the hard work our police teams are doing in our attempts to eradicate illegal drugs from our society."
