One person has died after a crash on the Desert Road.
Emergency services were called to a truck and car collision on the state highway just after 1:30am.
There have been no other reported injuries.
Police and Fire and Emergency are still on scene.
Further north, a crash involving four vehicles on State Highway 32 between Tokoroa and Mangakino saw five people injured, one critically.
Two helicopters dashed to the scene to rescue the injured. The serious crash unit is investigating.
