A 42-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the death of a Hastings man overnight.
At 2:35am on Friday, police responded to a report of a critically injured 30-year-old man at a Lumsden Rd address in Akina, Hastings.
While emergency services performed CPR, the man died at the scene.
The 42-year-old has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Hawke's Bay police earlier said two people were helping them with enquiries.
A scene examination was to be conducted on Friday and Saturday at the Lumsden Rd address and other "addresses of interest".
The accused will appear in the Hastings District Court on Saturday, with police saying enquiries are on-going.
