The man charged with the decapitation of 71-year old Petone man Francis Tyson
has been named.

Forty-one-year old Eugene Baker appeared in the Wellington High Court this morning where name suppression lapsed.

Police found Mr Tyson's body on November 30 at the Jackson St Flats. A witness told Stuff the victim's head was wrapped in a plastic bag and thrown out of a second-storey window in front of several children. Police have not confirmed this.

Police have confirmed neither the victim nor the accused are suspected of any gang affiliations.

Baker is also facing charges of intentional damage and the sale and supply of unapproved drugs.
