A man placed an ad in his local paper to try and find the woman he met at the Wings over Wairarapa airshow.

The man, known only as Richard, said he met gold pass holder Wendy near the World War I biplanes and suggested her red hair made her the mystery new star of Frozen II.

He said he hoped to see her again on the Saturday of the show, but never did.

"I would really like to meet you again - coffee perhaps?" he wrote, suggesting Wendy respond to the paper to contact him.

There have been mixed reactions to the photo with some people praising it, while others believed it to be creepy.

"Thats sooo sweet," one person said.

"Poor Wendy what if she really wasn't interested hence not coming back... Now she's gunner be inundated with messages and feel forced for 'coffee' (sic)," another wrote.

It's not the first time a personal ad has hit headlines, a US couple placed on looking to "nice NZ daughters" for their sons to date in December 2018.

"My wife and I have 3 wonderful, successful, handsome, alas unmarried, sons between the ages of 28-32," the advert said.

"We are not expecting, just hoping, to introduce our sons to nice NZ daughters."
