Racing has been suspended at Meremere Drag Raceway after a one person was killed in a motorcycle crash.
Police were called to the scene at Hampton Downs in Waikato at 2:42pm on Saturday afternoon.
A rider of a motorcycle was killed in the incident.
Facebook page Motohub claim the "well known" rider came off their bike at 269km/h.
Meremere Drag Raceway posted on its Facebook page that it was a "very sad day" and it was "postpoining today's meeting".
Many commented on the post, sending their condelences to the dead rider's family.
WorkSafe NZ has been notified of the accident.
