Police are appealing for witnesses after a boy was found dead in a pond in Gore in late January.

Family members had already started searching for the three-year-old boy when he was reported missing to police at around 9:30pm on January 29.

Now police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the toddler on Salford Street, Gore between 8:45pm and 9:30pm that night.

They said the boy was wearing high-visibility shorts and a vest, and had mousy blond hair.

He was found later that evening in a pond near Grasslands Road at around 11:15pm.

Unfortunately he could not be resuscitated.

Police ask for anyone with information to contact Gore police on (03) 203 9307.
