Police appeal for witnesses after elderly cyclist dies in Auckland

An elderly cyclist has died after an incident in Kohimarama on Monday. 

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to provide information on what led to the man's death.

The elderly man was found at the intersection of Southern Cross Road and Sprott Road, Kohimarama early on Monday morning.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died on Tuesday.

Waitemata Serious Crash Unit Sergeant Blair Atkinson says there was a woman at the scene who phoned the man's wife, and they wanted to speak to her about the incident too.

Police urge anyone who may have seen the incident to call them on 09 481 0780.
