Police have launched a homicide investigation into the death of a baby in Motueka.
Emergency services were called to an address on Memorial Drive at around 8:40pm on Sunday evening.
It was there they found the body of a five-month-old child.
A 41-year-old woman with serious injuries was also found at the scene. She was flown to Nelson Hospital and remains there in a serious but stable condition.
Officers continued with a scene examination on Monday. They are speaking with a person in relation to the infant's death.
No charges have been laid, but police are not seeking anyone else in the investigation.
