He broke a court order in 2015 by picking up 12-year-old Mike Zhao-Beckenridge from his school in Invercargill.
Beckenridge's car was found in the sea at the bottom of a cliff in Curio Bay a week later.
Tyre tracks leading off the cliff indicated someone was in the car and it left the ground as it went over the cliff - however no human remains were found.

De Luna left the country within a few months of the incident, and police laid murder charges in 2016.

Police are reportedly working at a "diplomatic level" to try and resolve the issue.
