Person fatally struck by train in south Auckland

Auckland's southern train line is partially out of action after a pedestrian was fatally hit by a train.

The person died and services have been suspended in both directions.

"Due to an emergency services incident near Takanini, all Southern Line services will be starting and terminating at Homai," Auckland Transport said on Twitter

"The remainder of the network is unaffected. Please use bus services between Homai and Papakura."

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said it was called to the incident around 8:10am.
