A crash under the Mountain Rd overpass has blocked two lanes of Auckland's Southern Motorway.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said motorists should "avoid the area if possible or expect significant delays".
The truck vs car crash happened around 11:15am.
Five people have been transported to hospital with minor to moderate injuries, St John said.
