Police find murder victim Denver Chance's vehicle

Police say they have found the vehicle of murder victim Denver Chance.

"The vehicle was found yesterday afternoon hidden at the scene of the same address in Kingseat where a body was located," says Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie.

"Formal identification is yet to take place, so we are unable to confirm that the body is that of Mr Chance."

Mr Chance was last seen alive driving away from his home in Mairangi Bay on the North Shore on February 24.

His body was found in the south Auckland suburb on Sunday after he had been missing for two weeks.

Later that day, police arrested a 41-year-old Kingseat man outside a Mt Eden bar.

On Monday, he appeared in Papakura District Court charged with killing the 43-year-old. He didn't enter a plea, and was granted name suppression.

After the arrest, Det Snr Sgt Megan Goldie said the police's thoughts were with Mr Chance's family and friends.

"Their worst fears have now been realised and they are absolutely devastated.

"Our focus throughout the investigation was finding Denver and being able to provide his family with answers.

"This is not the outcome any of us wanted, but at least we are now able to return Denver to his family and hold the person allegedly responsible for his death to account."

Police are still making enquiries into what happened to Mr Chance and are appealing for those with any information to contact the enquiry team on 0800 FIND DC.

They say further charges could be laid.
