One person has been arrested following a police pursuit near Wellington.
The Tawa on-ramp, on State Highway 1 was shut down following the pursuit, where a car was seen speeding the wrong way on the motorway.
At 7.20pm a witness told Newshub the motorist was being pursued by police, and was attempting to ram cars off the road.
He says he was driving northbound and the other motorist was driving southbound in the same lane.
The on-ramp is now open again.
