Police are investigating the death of a 17-month-old child.
The child was critically injured in Tauranga on Wednesday and subsequently died in Startship hospital on Friday.
Police say they are investigating the cause of the injuries, as well as the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Enquiries were also made in the Maungatapu area on Thursday.
A number of people are cooperating with officers.
